Alpenflage – a visual quest about the newest military simulation technologies and the old myth of an impregnable mountain fortress.
Switzerland is one of the safest countries in the world. Nevertheless, the swiss militia army continues to buy weapons and equip itself in order to defend the territorial independence and neutrality, both emblematic values of the country. The question is against whom and what do we need to defend our “Grund und Boden” (soil and earth) ? What might the scenarios be that the military men themselves come up with in order to justify the existence of such an army?
Alpenflage is a fictional work based on documentary imagery and at the same time a self-reflexive work about a specific type of imagery widely publicized since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
