A booklet inspired by the construction of the landscape in Marcel Duchamp’s posthumous work, the diorama Étant donnés: 1° la chute d'eau, 2° le gaz d'éclairage . . . (Given: 1. The Waterfall, 2. The Illuminating Gas . . . ). Pictures and quotes were chosen in dialogue with the history of stereoscopy, the limits of illusion, and the materials used for representing landscapes in paintings, natural history museums and in Duchamp’s work.
